Dear Folks: We are enjoying a fine vacation even though the weather hasn't been too nice. Found a nice auto camp Saturday afternoon in Vancouver then drove downtown to get our ferry tickets and reservations. Tuesday afternoon was the earliest we could get. Shopped a little, then had our dinner out and home to bed early as we were all tired. Sunday morning was nice so we drove all around Stanley Park - had a picnic lunch - saw the animals, etc. Also made telephone calls. Stopped by to see George and Jean Zilliax in the middle of the afternoon then over to the Bernard's for supper. Monday we shopped some more and then went out to Clint and Ella Smith's (Chicago hockey player). Had a nice dinner and evening with them. Tuesday we went to a good show before getting the ferry. That evening we stopped at friends of Clint's at Qualicum Beach. They have a store and cabins. Cully went fishing there this morning but didn't get a bite. Left at noon and started north. We are about 20 miles from Campbell River and have a lovely cabin. It has 3 large rooms and a bath and big front porch. Have a nice big yard with lawn and trees then the beach in front. Cully is out fishing again. It is supposed to be good here so hope he gets something. The girls are having loads of fun. No doubt we will stay here for 2 or 3 days. I plan to be good and lazy and get some good rest. Do not know just when we will be home - will drop you a card and call when we get back. This is beautiful country - very much like Washington. Hope you are all fine. Love, Gladys and all. |
