My dear Helen, Will write a few lines before going downtown. The stores will be closed Monday and no mail deliveries. I had a nice letter from Lilly yesterday. Also one from you. She is at Bryn Mawr living with Babe and Jerry. Babe has a government job in the quartermaster supply at the Ford plant. I know Lilly likes being there better than any place for she is so fond of the children. Stella, Sandra and Bernice came over to see me yesterday afternoon. Bernice did not want to go home. Stayed all night and until Harold came after her this noon. Wasn’t sure she wanted to go even then. She is always so good over here. She spent most of her time just looking at some comic magazines of Jimmie’s. I know Jimmie will be glad to hear from you. In one of his letters this week he said he wished you and Gladys would write. You had told me that Betty and Andy had moved, but not about the uncle dying or the aunt getting hurt. It was nice for the aunt that Betty could move in. Has she started getting homesick for Minneapolis? This will not be much of a letter because it is 4:30 and I want to get that package wrapped and sent tonight. I think I told you we are going to Prest’s for a 7 o’clock dinner tonight. Will drive up to the cabin tomorrow. Hope the day is nice. It is nice here now. Will write to you over the weekend. Buster’s wife’s funeral was this afternoon. She was only 18. Married when 16. Jim says she was in his class at school. Much love to you both – Mother. P.S. Will answer your letter when I write. |
