Dear Folks,
I have been writing cards till I can't see, but want to write a few words to you, and will try to write a longer letter later. I did not send you a telegram because I knew you did not plan on coming. Thought it best to send one to Carl and Hilda.
Mother failed fast the last week. We had her up Wednesday afternoon a while, and she never woke up after we put her to bed Wednesday evening. She had been sleeping till noon, so we did not realize at first that she was unconscious instead of sleeping. Then we had the doctor out and he said she was in a coma and would probably not wake up. So she slept till 10:20 Friday evening.
We just had a short service at the funeral home here and took her to the Swedish Church in St. Peter. We had a very nice service in both places. Our minister spoke very feelingly about "Gramma" and the St. Peter minister had a very nice short sermon.
The grandsons and sons-in-law were pall bearers and we went in three cars.
We got the casket spray from the children and grandchildren. And as we had not needed to use the money you sent Mother for Christmas we applied that on the flowers. And the flowers the girls and Jimmie sent were lovely.
Helen was not able to come as her Jimmie came down with measles as you no doubt know by this time. After the funeral we all went out to Clarence's for lunch. Most of the other relatives were there and we had a pleasant visit with them all. The cold let up for that day though it snowed a little.
I must get Danny from school. 7° below this morning. Will write more later.
