Sadie Erwin Box 1310, Knoxville, Tennessee |
Dear Sadie & Helen, Your letters of the 3rd arrived here the 6th so I guess your new airmail service is ok. I have not found the stamps that you bought for me, they will show up sometime. Stella hasn’t sent the book and dresses to Knoxville yet. I will keep after her. I had supper over there last evening, very good too, roast pork and things. I had a ham cut this evening and then bought a pair of shoes without my stamp. Now I don’t even know if I have one. I will take the stamp book down to Jensen’s tomorrow evening. I bought some pork chops. Fried 3 this evening. Ate one, also fried some raw spuds, half a can of peas and made a salad out of lettuce and raw carrots with mayo. Also had tea. I thought it was a swell supper. I now have a chop fried for my lunch and can have one for breakfast. I called Mrs. Jensen this evening but she must have been out. Very glad to note that Helen is getting along so nicely. I got along much better today Sadie after reading your letter. I was quite free from trouble this morning. Had spells once in a while but I was able to chase them away at once. I tired this afternoon and sometimes let old mortal mind get me. I was able to walk real well from the shop to the bus. … the budget, so we will keep working and things will be ok. Well June is going as fast as it can. The 8th tomorrow. A week from tomorrow you folks may be in Knoxville. I hope that Helen won’t have any trouble getting the gas for the trip. Mabel moved from Blessing’s Monday evening. I don’t know where she lives now. We were very busy today and have plenty of work lined up for tomorrow. Our lead man didn’t show up today. He seems to miss one day a week. The baby certainly is good. She must feel well to be able to sleep through all that heat. We should have some gas left by the time you get here so that we can go up to the cabin. Well it’s after nine o’clock so I will close now. I won’t mail this until tomorrow evening so I will add a few lines then and rush it to the post office before 5 pm. Got a card the 6th from Bessie Cornia, the lady with the baby that was going to Alexandria, La. Her husband met her ok and Bob the baby was a pretty good boy. She had a nice train air cooled. She thanks you for helping her. 4:45 PM 6/8 Just got it. I borrowed a stamp from George. See it is Kimmay’s. I am getting a shoe stamp from Stella. I had a bad day. My feet gave me a lot of pain. I just couldn’t work on it as I did yesterday. Will read more at night and get to bed early and be fine tomorrow. Don’t worry about me. Love to you all, Pop PS Mailing the book and things to Elmer this PM. |
