Sadie Erwin Box 44, Enumclaw, Washington |
Dear Folks, Ralph arrived Sunday so we have been busy as can be. Cully got in from Detroit that same morning and the boys played that night and beat the Detroit Red Wings 6-1. We are in 3rd place and have 6 games left to play – 3 at home and 3 away. The boys go Monday and will be on the road all week so imagine Ralph will leave then too. If he doesn’t I will ask him to. He told us he planned to go to Washington to live and work but I am letting him know I can’t have him with me. Cully got his draft call yesterday. He is supposed to take his physical next Thursday the 16th but is having it transferred to Chicago and they may not be able to take him until the 20th. That would be better on account of the road trip. He should get 21 days after that so hockey will be over by then. He still hopes he can get us home if only he can stay for 2 or 3 days. If he has to go in directly after we are thru here, I may stay a little longer in Minneapolis. There would be no need to hurry out too fast. I hope I can find a little house in Enumclaw so I can be near you folks and also able to go up to the cabin once in awhile. Don’t go out of your way but just keep your eyes and ears open for a place for me. Last night 10 of us went out to the “Barn” for dinner. Tonight 6 of us are going dancing. Ralph is taking our nurse girl and her aunt will take care of the kids. Thursday is the game. Friday we are going to the Golden Glove Finals. Saturday out to dinner. Sunday the game and then the boys go away for all week and come back the 19th to play their last game. The playoffs open March 21st. That is Jeannie’s birthday. Please do not send her anything. She doesn’t know the difference and it only would make something more to pack. She is still cutting teeth – those big double lowers and her mouth looks so sore. What size house dress do you want. Have you gained or lost? Can’t remember if it is 40 or 42. If I didn’t have two kids I’d go down to be with Helen and help her out when she has the baby. Will let you know how he comes out and what we will do, etc. Must close. Helen and I are taking Johnny and Buthie to the Shrine Circus this afternoon. Love, Gladys |
