Dear Folks,
Today was another nice warm spring day. We sat out on our front porch all afternoon and Elmer read and Jimmie just played around. The grade school is right across the street and there are always kids over there playing and Jimmie likes to watch them. He has a little cold but I think it will be better tomorrow. His nose ran so much today.
I hope Stella feels good. I think I’ve had a touch of the flue too because for the last three days every bone I have ached so much but I wasn’t sick at all. The aches seem almost gone tonight though so I’ll probably feel good again tomorrow. Last night we went upstairs to Trahan's apartment. Another couple was invited over too and we played some kind of a card game that was fun. We had to take Jimmie along because Mrs. Craig is sick with the flu. Jimmie slept in Sherry’s bed and she slept on the big bed because she is only four months old. Both Sherry and Jimmie woke up about 11:30 so we held them while we played cards but both were so sleepy they were real good. We played until about twelve and then came home.
Saturday Jimmie stayed with Sarah’s colored girl while we went downtown since Mrs. Craig didn’t feel good. He liked the colored girl O.K. and doesn’t mind Mrs. Craig anymore either. When I take him in to bed at night now he always says bye bye to Elmer and waves. His only fault is that he has to be rocked to sleep but I like to do it and he always goes right to sleep. Today he only wet three diapers all day long. When he starts to walk I’m going to get him training pants but since he’s crawling all over I keep overalls on him because he gets so dirty and they protect his legs but with rompers it won’t be so much trouble putting him on the toilet because they are easier to unfasten.
We had a letter from Florence Saturday and their mother was feeling pretty good again. We also had a letter from Bob which he had written when stuck in Ireland and he had gotten our Christmas package and box of candy bars but I guess he never did get the carton of cigarettes. Mrs. Walter is keeping busy trying to get the rest of her tenants out. We sure were lucky to find this apartment. Well Folks, guess I’ll write another letter and read a story. More later.
Love, Helen
