Dear Folks, No use to try to write much but I will send some clippings so you can read about the games. The Hawks would have been in the play-offs if they had beat Boston here last Thursday. However, I'm really glad they didn't. It is so wonderful to have it all over. Cully hurt his arm and back so stayed home for the final two-game road trip. He could have played if real necessary but as long as the games were not important they told him to stay here. Yesterday was the first Sunday we have enjoyed since last Fall. Was a beautiful day too. Cully went to church with Ruthie. It made her very happy. I had dinner all ready as soon as they came home. We left the dishes and went for a nice drive into Indiana. Whiting is so near here - in fact it is nearer than downtown Chicago. (That is where Helen and Elmer might come next.) It really would be wonderful. Anyway we drove down to the beach (Lake Superior). The girls had a grand time playing in the sand and picking up pretty stones. We sat and watched the waves slap. We ate our supper out and then came home and went to bed - all of us. The boys got in today. Last night after the game we had two calls direct from Detroit. They sure were excited. It was the first time during regular season that the Hawks have won there in 5 years. Tomorrow night Sparrers are having as many as can come over for dinner. So far they expect 20. Evelyn has a huge home. I am going to make 3 big casseroles full of scalloped potatoes for her. It will be the wind up of the season as most of the gang are leaving for home Wednesday morning. Helen's letter with the other one from Jim came today. I will answer her in a day or so and send her the one I have. Your package arrived last week. Thanks for everything. The girls loved their books and quilts. They truly are darling. Jeannie will unwrap her package Wednesday. I'm so happy to have the beautiful Science and Health - also thanks for the Quarterly. Let me know how much I owe you. I will write to Stella tomorrow. Eddie Dunne is filling out a contract for us. In a few days Cully will send it to you along with a check to Harold and our bank book. We are talking again of selling but must first find a place to live. We want to rent if possible then would be free to move anytime we pleased. We also could be sure of getting our money out of the house now. We both want to do whatever is right and best for us so know we will be led. More soon. Love, Gladys |
