Dear Albert,
It is 11 A.M. our work is all done up. Bob has not come, but there is a bus in at 2:15. If he does not come then we will meet the 5 o’clock bus this afternoon. Bob wasn’t sure that he could come because the boy he exchanges with is on furlough.
Helen had three different groups of company last night. We showed the apartment several times yesterday to prospective renters. The place was rented to a childless couple before bedtime for $56.00 per month. At that rate our place would be worth a hundred.
Monday
Bob and a swell kid from Florida came yesterday and we all had such a nice time. I know Helen and I enjoyed the boys a lot, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. Helen had a good dinner soon after they arrived, then supper in the evening before taking them back to camp at De Ridder. It is 50 miles from here. The night was beautiful and the countryside reminded me very much of southern Minnesota.
I’ll write more tonight. Helen is waiting to take this to the post office. I did a big washing today. We expected a Negro, but she did not show up so had to do it myself.
With love, Sadie.
