Erwin Girls 1120 Cole St., Enumclaw, Washington |
Dear Girls, We are across the Cascades and are down in the irrigation country. The trees and bushes were lovely in the mountains. The colors were so bright in among the green. The train shakes me around so it is hard to write but hope you can read this anyway. Jimmie is happy. He has a little boy about his age to play with. The little boy has a lot of toys, such as little cars and wagons to play with and Jimmie thinks it is great. I hope they are going a long ways too. I can't really believe we are on our way to Minneapolis. You girls are surely good brave girls to stay and let us go. I felt blue for awhile but began to think better after we were really started. We did not get away from the White River mill until 8:15. Got to Selleck 10:30 and Cedar Falls at 11:30. This train came at 12:25 p.m. It is pretty swell. Wish you girls were with us. Sometime you all will make this trip too. The day has been clear and beautiful. I do not like the looks of this sage brush country. We will soon cross the Columbia River. Jimmie's little friend is going to Chicago. His name is Wilbur. After the first of the month, Gladys, you may get a flower for your suit if you want to. I am getting hungry so will start supper soon. Will have tea, eggs and bread with apple butter. Jimmie is getting awfully sleepy. I am going to put him to bed early tonight. As soon as we mail this in Spokane I am going to bed too. Will write tomorrow. With lots of love, Mamma. |
