Dear Helen,
We had an awful time getting back to school. The other boy was Cliff Chamberlain from Renton.
It took us 25 ½ hours and should have only been about 7 ½ or 8. We stayed at the Y.M.C.A. in Spokane last night and came down on the bus this morning. It was fun getting home though.
When I got here your nice letter was here.
All our snow is gone and have swell spring weather. Don’t expect anymore bad weather. There were a lot of flowers out at home.
It’s nice Elmer will be able to stay there until the baby is born. What does Elmer do now that he is an air raid warden?
It will be swell if you do have a boy. All the indications seem to point towards being a boy.
Yes, the school term is going fast. We have only 9 weeks left.
Hope to make a lot of money this summer. Want to pay Cully back the $100. Give the folks $100 and that will be swell. Don’t think I’ll come back next September. I hope to work right threw and put some money in the bank. I’ll be glad to have some when the war is over.
The school insists on no Junior Prom. The kids are still mad too. They’ll do something though.
The Dahlstroms must be on their way to Florida by now. Are they going to Massachusetts and see you? It would be awful if they couldn’t get any gas and they were down south somewhere.
This is just a hurried letter but will write again soon.
With love, Jim.
