Albert Erwin 1120 Cole St., Enumclaw, Washington |
Dear Albert & Jimmie, Ruth brought me your nice letter last evening after she had mailed one to you. Your letter was written Saturday noon. Mrs. Rose is too good to you. How will we repay her for all her kindnesses to you boys. I know how well you like fish Albert so none of it was wasted. Glad to hear Fords are still such good customers. They are entitled to all the short items we get. Roma’s grocery man saves Jell-O, soap powder and shortening for her. Her neighbor goes down to the same place and can’t get any of those things. He knows she shops all over and only comes in for short articles. Mrs. Jensen can’t expect you to favor her either although we have given her scarce things at different times. I have Roma asleep now while Ben is sleeping. He sleeps a lot during the day and then keeps her up most of the night. She was blue and discouraged this morning, but feels better now. She had just cleaned him and the bed all up nicely, then he wet and messed all over it. He is stronger, eats well, and I am sure has gained weight ever since I came (he still is only skin and bones) and soon as his mind clears so he knows what he is doing, he will be all right. Jim, I’ll be back before the five years is up so you won’t have to be so tied down. It is hard for both of you, but I’ll make up for it when I come. Dorothea has come from school and is waiting to take this to the P.O. Much love, Mother. |
