Albert Erwin 1120 Cole St., Enumclaw, Washington |
Dear Albert and Jimmie, I left Helen’s this morning at 5:20. Elmer took me in. Helen wanted to go to Nashville too, but we talked her out of it. Both children were sleeping and it seemed a shame to waken them. I just changed cars here. We have a nice chair car now. I can see where I’ll have a nap this afternoon. Helen hated to have me leave very much. She has been very lonely there, but now I think she will enjoy life more. A young married couple has moved in next door. She also plans to go to church which will help too. My train is due in Auburn at 7:10 A.M. Wednesday. I’ll stop at the East Station where I got on the train the night I left. If I cannot make good connections I am going to pass up the Waseca trip. I am anxious to get home and do not want to be away any longer. I had to stay at Ben’s longer than I planned to, then could not leave Helen before I did. The train has started, will write more when it stops again. The weather has changed since coming further north. It is colder and has been raining most of the afternoon. I am glad to have my coat now. Have been going around without one at Helen’s. Helen gave me a good permanent yesterday so my hair looks nice today. I sent Mrs. Ellsworth a night letter last night to meet me at the depot in the morning. I checked one suitcase through to Auburn. Hope you boys are getting along O.K. You will be glad to have some help when I come, I am sure. Love to you both, Mother. This is for Stella too. Have not had much time to write. |
