Dear Albert,
Well here I am in Canada. Alma and I left home at 8:30 yesterday. Although it rained most of the trip, we enjoyed it very much. We reached this city about 4 P. M. Stopped at the Union Station to call Mrs. Zilliax. Dad came down to direct us up to the house. The Chuckanut drive is beautiful. Certainly hope you can take it some time.
Mrs. Zilliax invited some Science friends in last evening. There were 12 of us in all. We had such a lovely time. One young man came and brought his violin that he had had with him for four years in the trenches over in France. He had the dates of all the battles he had been in carved in the back of the violin. Once he lost the violin during a battle but it was afterwards returned to him. Said it had been strapped to his pack when hit by shrapnel damaged the violin, but saved his life. He had the violin repaired later.
We will attend church tomorrow. The church is across the street from us. Mrs. Zilliax is going to take us downtown this afternoon. We are within walking distance of the downtown stores. This is a lovely apartment. The First Reader of the church across the street lives above us on the second floor. He is a musician and has a studio downtown.
Mrs. Zilliax said she wrote you a nice letter long time ago but you had never answered it. I told her you would some time.
This is not so very long but that you might want to hear something from me. Will write tomorrow if I have a chance.
With love, Sadie.
