Dear Mother,
Your nice letter came yesterday. Thank you for it and also for the one of Jim’s enclosed. I will keep it for you. It certainly is nice he is more science minded – it will help him all thru his life. Not only help him in case he is in a tight spot but probably keep him out of such difficulties. I just must write to him this week. Also want to make some candy for both Jim and Wally.
I was downtown yesterday so washed some clothes at Stella’s. We both kept busy the whole day. Jeannie was fine again. She seems to be all over her troubles. I picked some raspberries so have already canned a batch of jam this morning – also kept out some to eat. Cully and Ruthie sure love them.
Everything went fine Saturday night. We enjoyed it and the rest seemed to have a good time. Cully was very much surprised too. Ma Jones baked him a beautiful cake with candles and all. She and Mrs. Tanner dropped in to wish him a Happy Birthday. Mrs. Tanner gave him some nice cookies. Everyone up here is so nice.
Yesterday I got the deed to our new lot. We are so happy to have it.
Last night Freddie and Nell Bannister called on us. They said they would try to get down again soon.
Sunday the Fra____ from Yakima were here. We all had dinner at Youd’s – 9 of us in all. They brought fried chicken, potato salad and a beautiful Angel food cake. Also a big box of delicious cherries. It was lots of fun and we all ate until we could bust.
I sort of look for Zelda and Mrs. Z. today. I do hope they get up.
Mr. Hazlerigg is due any minute and Jeannie wants attention so I will run along. You will be home this weekend so will see you soon. I will try to get down the first of the week – otherwise will call you.
Have a nice trip home.
Love, Gladys
